Please bring a t-shirt (or several) to donate Sunday to our t-shirt bag project for J1 students. We have made a bit over 250 of these bags in the last two months to hand out to the J1 student dinner and freebie recipients. The students are requested to bring them back to reuse and are presented with an extra “treat” for returning with their bags. The bags are well received by the students and they seem to enjoy the various logos about USA activities. (a “souvenir” of their time at Epworth), Our logo for this project is the same as for the tote bags, “Rescue, Repurpose, Reuse, and Recycle”
We prefer small, medium, and large sizes. The X, XX, XXX are too large and not as practical as the smaller sizes and it requires a bit of time to alter them. We also request that the t-shirt logos be appropriate =)
We are totally out of donated t-shirts! Our next sew-in for these bags will be in about two weeks.
Look for a bin in the lobby welcome area under a t-shirt donations sign.
What is a J1student? You announce dinners and request t-shirts — but please explain this program/project. I can’t help if I don’t know who or why. I don’t think I am alone. Thank you.
Great question. J1 refers to a state department work visa program for summer student workers from other countries. We’ve been serving them weekly suppers for a while now from June-August. Let me know if you want to volunteer for other lunches (we offer one every Sunday from 1-3).
