SUMMARY:Good Friday Tenebrae Service
DESCRIPTION:This Tenebrae service is one of the most emotional traditions of the church. The story of Jesus’ arrest\, trial\, suffering\, and death is punctuated by musical meditations by our Chancel Choir and Bell Choir\, as well as traditional hymns. After each section of The Passion of Our Lord is completed\, candles are extinguished and the lights are dimmed\, leaving us in darkness at the end of the service. Worshippers are invited to remain and pray after the service\, as we leave in silence. \nThe service begins at 7 p.m. Friday\, April 18. The word Tenebrae is Latin for “shadows” or “darkness.” It can also be translated as “night” or “death.”
