I. WEEKLY PLANT CAREEvery week we have a team of volunteers who care for plants in the Sanctuary and hallways. There is a wide variety of plants, each of which has a unique irrigation and fertilization need. The weekly tasks include:

  • Watering
  • Fertilization
  • Remove dead leaves
  • Add additional soil when necessary
  • Report any damaged or dying plants

We currently have only two teams and would like to add two additional teams so that each team would only work once a month.  Training is provided for each new individual that joins the team. Stop by the WINGS Table or contact Susan Jiménez to be a part of this beautiful and restorative ministry.

II. ANNUAL PLANT SALEThis event will be an EUMC Fundraiser and provide an opportunity to sell potted house plants, cuttings, seedlings, outdoor plants (annuals and perennials), both native and ornamental. We are not the owners of creation; rather, “the earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1). Christians acknowledge creation care as an act of discipleship; we are stewards of the earth, summoned by God to “work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15).” Our connection with plants is real—just look at our sanctuary, surrounding hallways, and church grounds.

This event is scheduled for May 3, 2025, but work will begin at our first planning meeting in the Starnes Room at 10 am on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 to plan, gather supplies, begin plant propagation, potting as well as advertising and identifying partner vendors. Contact Susan Jiménez to find out more or to attend this meeting.
