This picture above is of a long-time member of Epworth, Linda Rooney. Her daughter is Linda Jo Hess. Linda Jo played the piano for our chancel choir many years ago.
When Linda Jo’s father passed away her mother began a decline. Her health as well as her memory became a concern. In her healthy time Mrs. Rooney was a wonderful artist.
She loved painting with watercolors. Several pictures were given to Epworth. As her dementia continued, she stopped painting completely. Now 92 she started painting again, mostly on glass bottles and vases.
She wanted to donate those bottles to the flower ministry to share with our congregants that receive flowers as an additional gift! Below is the picture Linda Jo shared with me of her mom at her painting area.
I am going this afternoon to Mrs. Rooney’s house to pick up the glass she completed and deliver our unpainted vases for Mrs. Rooney to paint. I asked if I could take additional pictures of Linda’s mom and share them with our congregation as a joy!
Maybe we could begin a once-a-month program to tell a story of one of our church members who use their unique talents and gifts, painting, crocheting, sewing, etc. to share with others?
Peace,
