Celtic Spirituality (May 30 - July 4, 2021)

With the easing of COVID-19 worship restrictions and the beginning of a summer season at Rehoboth Beach, we turn in our worship to the rich treasure store of Celtic spiritual practices, many of which predate the coming of Christianity to Ireland. Many of these traditions which had served the people as pathways to the sacred were seamlessly adopted into Christian life - which shouldn't really surprise us. The Psalmist (in Psalm 19) celebrates the heavens and earth proclaim God's glory, and Paul opens his letter to the church gathered in Rome affirming the Good News in the story of creation for anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear. 

This series was inspired in part by two books on Celtic Spirituality by the Rev. Dr. J. Philip Newell, Listening for the Heartbeat of God and The Book of Creation. You may also enjoy using the prayers in A Contemporary Celtic Prayer Book by William John Fitzgerald.
