Approximately 65 percent of the Black population in 1935 were not eligible to collect Social Security benefits because they worked in agricultural or domestic sectors which were excluded by the Social Security Act. There is no such thing as a nonracist or race-neutral policy. Every policy in every institution in every community in every nation is producing or sustaining either racial inequity or equity between racial groups. Example, a policy that gives one racial group more than what they need while giving another racial group less than what they need is a racist policy. For this third Sunday in October, our Stephen Ministers will host a Prayer Chapel in the Baker Lounge and any overflow will continue in the Nursery.
Our Stephen Ministers will offer this prayer ministry each third Sunday from 10:30-11:30 am and from 12-1 pm

Many thanks to Gwen Osborne and all who helped move our diseased plants and spruce up our plant beds in the sanctuary and hallways.
Work is nearing completion on the cleaning up of our interior plants. We do however need help to finish. We need many HANDS to pick up the dead leaves and other plant debris in and on the river rocks. Ideally, garden gloves should be worn.

Flower Deliverers Needed
The Flower Delivery Ministry is in need of volunteers to help deliver flower arrangements one Monday a month. These arrangements are created by our Flower Design Ministry every Sunday by repurposing the Chancel flowers. They are then delivered each Monday to members who are shut-ins, residents in care facilities or others who could use some flowers to brighten their days. Seeking Volunteers to remove and transport dead interior plants
We are seeking volunteers to remove and transport dead interior plants to Delaware Solid Waste Authority in Harbeson, DE. Ideally, a truck would be required and the ability to lift heavy plants over 10 lbs. Also, we need volunteers with sharp scissors to trim the peace lilies in the Sanctuary. The Crucial Role of Caregiving
One of the most important jobs God calls us to is caregiving: loving others in God’s name. Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry is one way we accomplish God’s caring work. If you’re at a place where you feel ready to serve and bless others in this way, explore the possibility of Stephen Ministry by contacting the church office today to find out more about this ministry. A training class will be offered in 2022.
Collecting and Distributing food to our neighbors in need Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays – and rescuing food every day.
