Hello, beloved Fam!
As you prepare for the weekend, please consider signing and sharing this letter with congregations and leaders of faith. Appreciative of your support for immigration justice,

Amor, Justicia, y Paz
Dear all,
Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE), Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), Global Refuge, and Jesuit Refugee Service/USA (JRS/USA) invite faith-based organizations and individuals to sign onto this letter offering concrete and time-sensitive proposals to protect access to work for immigrants and asylum seekers.
Why sign: Work permits are a necessity for people’s access to food, housing, and health care. The value of work and one’s ability to support themselves and their families has resonance with many faith traditions. Currently the work permit backlog exceeded 1.6 million pending applications as of March 2024. Many people (DACA recipients, asylum seekers, TPS holders, adjustment applicants, parolees, and more) wait months or over a year due to USCIS delays. This letter is a call for USCIS to eliminate this backlog before January 2025 and ensure that as many people as possible have stable access to work permits well into the future.
Who: We welcome national and state/local faith-based signatories from a broad spectrum of faith communities, reflecting that this is a priority for many of our members, churches, congregations, synagogues, mosques and other worship communities.
Please share within your networks!
