Called to Community (Oct. 17 – Nov. 21, 2021)

These final six weeks culminate the Christian year (which begins with the Advent season). Having explored the ways we share our gifts to collaborate in the community of faith, we turn now to focus on how God calls and invites us into community. As so many things we took for granted as foundations of our lives shift beneath us, it can be tempting to believe we are isolated and alone. God’s calling constantly renews our sense of belonging.

COVID-19 has forced us to rethink what community means, as many typical expressions of physical closeness have become threatening. As we keep our distance to keep one another safe, we discover new ways and practices of community life. We draw on the rich tradition of scriptural wisdom to rediscover the enduring and adaptable foundations of life together.

Oct. 17 – Called to Encourage (Judges 4:4-16 – key verses – 8-9) Our callings relate to the callings of others; in answering our call, we help others be faithful to God’s calling.
