A hub for worship and community music
Music is an essential component of worship at Epworth
Praise Team – offers contemporary worship selections sung by a group of talented singers and backed by keyboard, synthesizers, drums, and guitar – and the Chancel Choir frequently provides back-up vocals. All singers must audition for the Minister of Music.
Chancel Choir – provides a wide array of genres from sacred classic to gospel to scripture-based anthems, the group is in worship every week of the year. All singers must audition for the Minister of Music.
Bell Choir – is comprised of one dozen musicians playing arrangements of classic hymns, spirituals, and works specifically composed for 6-octaves of handbells and chimes . They participate in worship each month from September through June. All ringers must audition for the Minister of Music.
Voices of Hope – is the newest addition to the department! Directed by Doug Yetter, the group is comprised of people with Parkinson’s, their care partners, and volunteers. The group meets Thursdays from 10:00-11:30, utilizing the first half of the rehearsal to strengthen voices and reinforce correct breathing, the second half is dedicated to learning songs for a public presentation at the end of each of their 12-week sessions.
We are a hub of community music events.
Epworth hosts dozens of community events every year – Mid-Atlantic Symphony, CAMP Rehoboth Chorus, Encore Chorale of Sussex County, Rehoboth Jazz Fest, Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice, Speak Out Against Hate, Southern Delaware Orchestra (SoDelO), Capital Ringers, and Delaware Womenade – to name a few.
