The Association for the Study of African American Life and History’s theme this year is “African Americans and Labor.”

Someone gave Pastor Vicki a History of Racial Injustice 2025 Calendar after worship Sunday, February 9. After ordering a five-pack of the calendars at Equal Justice Initiative we discovered a link to each day’s remembrance as well as a place to sign up to have them delivered daily to your email. Folk born into the dominant racial caste are largely unaware of both the manifold contributions of African Americans and people of color in America and the political, cultural, and religious injustices to prevent them from sharing the blessings of liberty and opportunity to share those gifts.

We’re hosting two major Black History month community events at Epworth this month:

We also found 37 Ways To Intentionally Celebrate Black History Month. And the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice, sponsors of the February 28 event, plan many other events and have many awareness-raising resources to share. Of course, Delaware is the stage of Harriet Tubman’s Underground Railroad pathway to freedom for over 300 enslaved persons. The National Park Service (for now!) operates the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park in Church Creek, Maryland, and there’s a Harriet Tubman Museum in Cape May, NJ.
