EPWORTH CHURCH 2025 SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE
Mission Statement – Our mission is to foster a community committed to justice, equality and love. We strive to create an environment where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. We will draw inspiration from the principles of justice as outlined in the New Testament, where Jesus calls for us to love, be compassionate, and care for the marginalized. We are committed to advocate for social justice and work for a more loving world.
Committee members meet on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Baker’s Lounge, at Epworth. We continue to welcome new members to support our mission.
In February committee members surveyed the congregation to determine which social issues in our community needed the most support. A total of 118 Sunday service attendees completed the survey resulting in homelessness being the number one concern, followed by discrimination (age, race, minorities and other) and poverty.
The Social Justice Committee has been investigating resources available to the homeless in our community and determining how Epworth can best partner with other organizations to serve this underserved population.
