Nine foursomes teed off on Saturday, October 5th for Epworth UMC’s Drive Away Hunger golf outing at The American Classic Golf Club in Lewes. The event was sponsored by Schell Brothers.

Event co-chairs, David Streit and Scott Button, said that the event raised a little over $16,000 and expenses were held to just over $2000. The $14,000 balance will be used to support Epworth’s community outreach programs. Streit, who heads up Epworth’s food pantry, said, “funds are needed now especially as the number of people being served is growing, over 12,000, in the past year.” Epworth is also home to the Food & Love Soup Kitchen, providing hot meals and fellowship for the past 13 years, and Food Rescue that this year has collected over 100 tons of food in good condition that would otherwise have been thrown away.

Thank you to all who contributed baskets and bought tickets.
