Camp Pecometh, what a gift for our youth! We have more youth signed up for Camp Pecometh than any previous year. In addition, several signed up for more than one session. As I think back a few years, only one in our youth group attended the camp, Autumn Reynolds. She would come back and tell others about her experiences. She talked about her adventures in nature, water activities, games, and campfires. Most of all she told the church that camp strengthened her faith. Her conversations with other young people created a special time for all of them to unplug, share their beliefs and their questions about faith and community. For a few summers Autumn was our only camper. Last year we sent five. They all came back with very similar stories to share with their group. Their experiences with fun and faith encouraged others to take the opportunity this year for a camp experience.
This year we are sending eight youth to a total of 14 weekly camp programs. A few are attending more than one session, one a counselor in training program, preparing him to be a Camp Pecometh counselor. This is a two-week camp stay. Two of our youth are attending the arts and performance camp sessions. Others are attending sessions that match their likes. Most all include being on or in the water. The Campership program is sharing this with you because we could use more camperships sponsors. Our youth program is doing wonderfully, the numbers are growing, and our youth are bringing their friends to church. Will you help to encourage them to spend a few weeks of fun and adventure in a faith-based setting beyond Epworth’s walls? If so, see Mickie at the Pastoral Care Desk or email her at mmcmanamon@epworth.faith. Let’s make summer 2025 a time of growing in faith and of course fun that our youth will share with others!
